M27 The Dumbbell Nebula

M27 - The Dumbbell Nebula is a planetary nebula (a remnant of a star which has blown off its upper layers and sent this material into space). This was the 1st Planetary Nebula discovered (in 1764 by Charles Messier). M27 is a dim object at a magnitude 7.5 making it visible only to telescopes and binoculars from most locations.
