M31  The Andromeda Galaxy

 M31 -Andromeda Galaxy is likely the most well-known Galaxy. It is the closest Galaxy to our own Milky Way galaxy in and is currently on a collision course with the Milky Way. This Galaxy is 2.5 million light years away and is a magnitude 3.7 object making it easily visible to the naked eye from dark locations.

     M31 also has two companion Galaxies, Messier 32 and Messier 110, which are elliptical galaxies. The Andromeda Galaxy as well as our own Milky Way galaxy are part of the Virgo of cluster of galaxies
