M8 The Lagoon Nebula

Located in The Constellation Sagittarius

 M8 - The Lagoon Nebula is part of a cloud of  gas that includes a star forming region.  This nebula is located in the constellation Sagittarius and is one of the largest nebulas visible.  M8 is a dim object but can be seen with un-aided eyes under the right conditions by knowledgeable observers.   CLICK HERE locate M8 in the night sky.

    Take a close look at the center this image, it shows an immense dust lane near its center and a region of super-heated gas from newly formed stars.  This nebula is located in a section of a Milky Way arm which accounts for the numerous background stars.
